Why Remove Metadata?
Every photo taken on a smartphone or camera contains hidden metadata embedded in the file. When you share a photo online, that metadata travels with it — revealing your exact GPS location, the device you used, and when the photo was taken. Removing metadata before sharing protects your privacy and reduces your digital footprint.
Videos recorded on phones and cameras carry similar data. Our tool strips all of it using lossless techniques: JPEG files are never recompressed, and video streams are copied byte-for-byte — so the visual quality of your files is completely unchanged.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does removing metadata reduce photo or video quality?
- No. Metadata is stored separately from pixel data. Removing it does not touch the image or video content in any way.
- What file formats are supported?
- Images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC. Videos: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI. Up to 500 MB per file, up to 20 files per batch.
- Are my files stored on the server?
- No. Files are deleted immediately after you download them. Nothing is kept, logged, or shared.
- Is this tool free?
- Yes, completely free with no account required.
- Will the file size change?
- Yes, slightly — the output file will be a few kilobytes smaller because the metadata blocks are removed. The image or video itself is identical.
